Hours/CEUs for the 2023 Conference
Available hours/CEUs for the 2023 Conference are expected to be available in July.
Requirements for Earning Professional Hours/CEUs
- Only registered conference participants can earn professional hours/CEUs
Visit the Registration page to register. - Save or print the Session Verification Code and Quiz Worksheet (forthcoming)
The Session Verification Code and Quiz Worksheet is for your use only (do not submit it). It includes links to all session quizzes and space to document the verification code after you watch each session. You will need these codes to complete the Attendance Verification Form (step #6) after you have finished taking all your quizzes. - Attend in-person sessions at the conference and watch recorded sessions when the conference is over to earn additional hours. Session recordings will be available through the schedule 24–48 hours after the in-person presentations. You can continue to watch recorded sessions after the conclusion of the conference, allowing you to complete concurrent sessions. The session verification codes will be located at the end of the video presentations.
- Document the session verification codes
After you attend or watch a session, document the session verification code using your worksheet from step #2. Codes are case-sensitive (3 capital letters and 3 numbers). - Take quizzes
After viewing each session, please take a brief quiz using the link in the session description. Links to the quizzes can also be found in your worksheet from step #2. You only need to submit each quiz one time. You do not need to earn a specific score. You will receive email confirmation for each quiz you submit. - Submit Attendance Verification Form (forthcoming) by Monday, October 2
After you have collected the verification codes for ALL your sessions, you must submit them, along with your professional ID/license numbers, through the online Attendance Verification Form. Please only submit this form one time, after you have collected all of your verification codes. This is the only way to receive professional hours. Be sure to use the name with which you registered. If your last name has changed, please add a note in the comment area. After you submit the Attendance Verification form, you will receive an email verifying the receipt of your information, including titles of all sessions attended. Save for future reference! This will help serve as your proof of attending specific relevant sessions for licensure and recertification boards, if necessary.
Your “Penn State certificate of attendance,” indicating the number of hours and Penn State CEUs you have earned, will be attached to the email you receive when you submit your Attendance Verification Form. The other professional certificates will be emailed by PaTTAN approximately 4–6 weeks after the October 2 deadline, upon verification that requirements were completed.
- To receive ASHA CEUs for in-person attendance, participants MUST complete a separate ASHA-specific survey (forthcoming).
- To receive ASHA CEUs for viewing recorded sessions, a separate ASHA-specific survey (forthcoming) MUST be completed.
Penn State Certificate of Attendance
Each conference participant who completes all requirements will be provided a certificate of attendance indicating the number of hours and Penn State CEUs earned. Continuing Education Units (CEUs) are based on a standard of 1 unit per 10 hours of classroom instruction. The certificate will be based on the hours you complete (e.g., 42 hours of instruction or 4.2 CEUs). You can earn a Certificate of Attendance even if you do not have a professional ID/license number.
Accrediting agencies calculate continuing and professional education hours.

American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA)
Not all conference sessions have been pre-registered for ASHA CEUs. Only sessions listed for ASHA CEUs in the schedule will count in your total ASHA CEU amount.
Due to the policies and practices of offering ASHA CEUs, credits earned from in-person sessions and recorded sessions will be calculated separately. If an attendee would like to earn credits for in-person sessions as well as recorded sessions, two separate surveys are required.
Credits for Attending In-Person Sessions: to be announced in July
In-person sessions are defined as those being presented live at the conference venue in State College, PA and those being livestreamed online at the time of presentation. Please note the following:
- To receive ASHA CEUs for in-person sessions, participants must complete the in-person ASHA survey (forthcoming) with attendance codes. The survey will open on August 3, at the conclusion of the live conference.
- Any recorded sessions viewed during this timeframe do not count for credits.
- Please note that the ASHA survey is not the same as the Attendance Verification Form used for the other credits, such as Act 48, BACB, Social Work, etc. If a participant wants to earn hours/CEUs other than ASHA, they must submit the online Attendance Verification form for all other accreditations.
- After verification of attendance and survey completion, ASHA CEUs will be reported to ASHA within the ASHA CE timelines. Please allow at least 60 days for ASHA CEUs to be reflected on your ASHA registry.
Credits for Watching Recorded Sessions: to be announced in July
Participants may watch recorded sessions to earn ASHA CEUs. Please note the following:
- To earn credits for watching recorded sessions, participants must watch sessions in their entirety and complete the ASHA recorded-session survey (forthcoming), including session codes.
- Duplicate sessions (i.e., a session watched live during the conference, then viewed as a recording) will only be counted once.
- ASHA determines credit hours for recorded conference sessions based on the runtime of the videos, not scheduled times. This may result in times being under or over the in-person session times.
- After verification of attendance and survey completion, ASHA CEUs will be reported to ASHA within the ASHA CE timelines. Please allow at least 60 days for ASHA CEUs to be reflected on your ASHA registry.
How ASHA CEUs Are Calculated for Recorded Sessions
The National Autism Conference (NAC) total credits for ASHA CEUs will be determined by adding the runtime of each session viewed to reflect the total of minutes for the conference. The total number of minutes viewed for the conference is then divided by 60 to determine the total hours of viewing. This number is rounded DOWN to the nearest half hour. The hours (rounded if needed) are converted to ASHA CEUs by multiplying them by .1.
Example:
John watched a total of three recorded conference sessions.
- Runtime of first session: 143 minutes
- Runtime of second session: 159 minutes
- Runtime of third session: 76 minutes
- Total time, in minutes, of all sessions viewed: 143 + 159 + 76 = 378 minutes
- Total time in hours: 378 ÷ 60 = 6.3 hours (6 hours and 18 minutes)
- Total time rounded down to the nearest 1/2 hour: 6 hours
- Total number of ASHA CEUs: 6 x .1 = .6 ASHA CEUs
