James Connell Jr.

James Connell Jr., Ph.D., NCSP, BCBA-D, is a practicing and nationally certified school psychologist and a Board Certified Behavior Analyst working in mental health, behavioral health, and educational settings. For nearly 20 years, his clinical practice, research, and scholarship have focused on the conceptualization and implementation of evidence-based interventions in community settings, and the development and refinement of consultant-driven procedures to ensure program fidelity. Dr. Connell has more than 15 years of experience working in school systems and in mental health settings providing consultative support to direct care staff and educators regarding the implementation of evidence-based interventions. He has published numerous book chapter and scientific peer-reviewed papers identifying external variables associated with the adult behavior change needed to ensure successful program implementation, and has critiqued and edited numerous peer-reviewed papers on the same topic. Dr. Connell continues to teach graduate-level courses in academic and behavioral interventions, and school-based consultation models and procedures. Currently, he serves as the A.J. Drexel Autism Institute Clinical Core director, and supervises a team of psychologists, school psychologists, and behavior analysts in their clinical practice and research endeavors. He has numerous grants and contracts in a variety of community settings, and supervises the clinical team managing these projects. Prior to going to Drexel, Dr. Connell had faculty appointments at the University of Pennsylvania and Temple University.
