Audrey Kappel

Audrey Kappel, Ph.D., is the research and data director at the Western Pennsylvania School for Blind Children (WPSB) in Pittsburgh. She has a doctorate in research methodology, with a focus on assessment of students with disabilities. Prior to joining WPSB, she was an assistant research professor at the University of Pittsburgh, providing technical direction on the Pennsylvania Alternate System of Assessment. Dr. Kappel also was an educational consultant at PaTTAN, Pittsburgh, where she has worked on a number of initiatives, including Secondary Transition and Inclusive Practices, and has participated in multi-state consortia on issues concerning assessment. Her current focus is supporting the Bureau of Special Education with priority projects. Dr. Kappel helps to incorporate content and methodological advances into the Pennsylvania Alternate System of Assessment as well as overseeing research methodology and data reporting with the Pennsylvania Dyslexia Project.
